1. Introduction to 95% Alumina Ceramic
95% Alumina Ceramic is a high-performance ceramic material with α-alumina (α-Al₂O₃) as the main component and a content of about 95%. This material is made by mixing high-purity alumina powder with a small amount of other oxide additives (such as SiO₂, MgO, CaO, etc.) and undergoing molding and high-temperature sintering processes.
Microstructurally, 95% alumina ceramic presents a typical corundum-type crystal structure, with grain sizes typically ranging from 2 to 10 microns and clear grain boundaries. This structure gives the material excellent mechanical properties and electrical insulation properties.
Compared to higher-purity alumina ceramics (e.g. 99% or 99.5% Al₂O₃), 95% alumina has more advantages in sintering temperature and cost, while maintaining sufficiently high performance indicators. Its density is about 3.6g/cm³, which is between 85% alumina and 99% alumina. This balanced performance makes it one of the most economical and practical choices for industrial applications.
2. Industrial Applications
• Electronics & Electrical Engineering
95% alumina ceramics are the preferred materials for integrated circuit packaging, vacuum switch tube shells, high-voltage insulators, and spark plug insulators. Its excellent dielectric properties and mechanical strength ensure the reliable operation of electronic equipment in harsh environments.
• Mechanical & Wear Components
95% alumina ceramics are widely used in wear-resistant parts, such as textile machinery wire guides, bearings, cutting tools, pump seals, etc. In chemical fiber spinning equipment, the service life of alumina ceramic wire guides far exceeds that of metal materials, greatly reducing downtime and maintenance time.
• Chemical & Corrosion Protection
95% alumina ceramics are used to manufacture corrosion-resistant pipes, valves, reactor linings and grinding media. In acid and alkali production equipment, ceramic components can resist the erosion of most chemical media, and their service life far exceeds that of stainless steel and plastic materials.
• Medical & Dental Implants
95% alumina ceramics are used as artificial joints (hip joint heads), dental implants and surgical instrument components due to their biological inertness. It has high surface smoothness, good compatibility with human tissues, and low friction coefficient, making it an ideal artificial joint material.
• Energy & Environmental Tech
95% alumina ceramics are important components of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), and are also used in lithium battery separators and solar panel support structures. Their high temperature stability and ion conductivity are crucial to improving energy conversion efficiency.
